To add/change drivers after office hours, please follow the instructions below:
- If you have comprehensive Car property Insurance (Bituach Makif):
- Adding/changing drivers on a temporary basis is done online through the insurance company’s website. To add/change drivers temporarily, click below on the button of the insurance company where your car is insured and follow the instructions there:
- Clal Insurance Company
- Migdal Insurance Company
- Harel Insurance Company
- Menorah Insurance Company
- Shomera Insurance Company
- Ayalon Insurance Company
- Hachshara Insurance Company
- HaPhoenix Insurance Company
- If clicking above and following the insurance company’s instructions does not allow you to successfully add/change drivers, first try again and enter the cellphone number of your spouse. If you still cannot successfully add/change drivers and cannot wait until our office reopens, take a screenshot of the problem, read the information contained in section D below regarding Compulsory Insurance (Bituach Chova), and then send us an email that includes the screenshot and all of the information mentioned in section C.
- Adding/changing drivers on a permanent basis can only be done through our office during office hours. To do so, please contact our office during office hours.
- If you have Third Party Car property Insurance (Bituach Tzad Gimmel):
- Many (but not all) insurance companies allow you to temporarily add/change drivers online through their website. Click above on the button of the insurance company where your car is insured and follow the instructions there. If you are unable to successfully make the addition/change, first try again and enter the cellphone number of your spouse. If you still cannot successfully add/change drivers and cannot wait until our office reopens, take a screenshot of the problem, read the information contained in section D below regarding Compulsory Insurance (Bituach Chova), and then send us an email that includes the screenshot and all of the information mentioned in section C.
- Adding/changing drivers on a permanent basis can only be done through our office during office hours. To do so, please contact our office during office hours.
- If we receive a request by email from the policy owner to add/change drivers that includes all of the information listed below, coverage will be added only for the property insurance (either comprehensive or third party) but not for the Compulsory insurance (which covers personal injuries). See below section D regarding Compulsory Insurance.
- Car license plate number
- Your name
- Age of youngest driver
- Date youngest driver received driving license
- Dates for which you are requesting coverage
- The words “I agree in advance to pay the increase in premium my request generates, whatever it comes out to be”
- Compulsory Insurance (Bituach Chova) policy (which covers personal injuries):
- There are two categories of drivers:
- Category 1 – Drivers whose use of the vehicle was unexpected and could not reasonably be known in advance.
The Compulsory Insurance policy already covers catergory 1 drivers and there is therefore no need to update it.
- Category 2 – Drivers expected to drive the vehicle from time to time (for example, a child in yeshiva or the army who comes home from time to time and drives the vehicle).
Unless the Compulsory Insurance policy is updated to reflect the age/driving experience of catergory 2 drivers (either temporarily through the insurance company’s website or through our office during office hours), regulations allow the insurance companies to charge the policy owner a hefty monetary fine in the event of an accident involving personal injuries.
- If you were able to add/change drivers on a temporary basis online through the insurance company’s website, the addition/change applies to the Compulsory Insurance policy as well as the property insurance policy, on the condition that the Compulsory Insurance policy was issued at the same insurance company as the property insurance policy
